Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2026

March 2026 I got an email from someone I didn’t know that said

“Hey Tom, It’s time to book your flights for Goodwood, is the 7th to the 15th July OK with you? Sincerely, George.”

Previous to that I had no idea my bike was even considered for the show, let alone to be ridden on track… it turns out those dates were ok, and if they weren’t I was going to make them OK.

So I packed a bag, and some ride gear and mentally prepared to ride a hand clutch, hand shift bike I hadn’t touched in over a year as fast as I could up the hill.

On arrival we bumped into the festival and got registered as riders on Wednesday afternoon, met the other builders and the team we would be hanging out with, Adrian, George, Leah and Harry from RE’s tech centre in England. These guys had it dialled in and everything was prepped for an epic weekend.

I was battling jetlag so went running through the countryside in west ashling at 4am Thursday morning to shake off some nerves. When I’m about to have to deal with people for 4 days straight I get really anxious. Add to that having to ride while millions of people are watching and you got yourself a nervy little mix. Checked into Goodwood at 8am and ready to ride at 10 for our first run up the hill.

I was a bit tentative at first but at the weekend rolled on and we rode the hill twice a day every day I found my comfort back on Project delta and could give her what for up the track. I wasn’t breaking any speed records but she was breaking a few hearts. It was great to let punters see our work in action as it should be.

We managed to mix it up with a bunch of other custom builders at the show too, DeBolex motorcycles and Diamond atelier were our direct neighbours and I was surprised to learn they actually knew about PBM and loved the bike. Having that sort of feedback from builders I’ve long respected is worth a lot and I appreciate their work just the same.

Seeing the DeBolex Vincent up close and talking to the guys that make it happen was a great experience. PBM has a Vincent in our future I can feel it. This bike was incredible, amazingly clean and so well considered in every aspect. The finish on this hand built machine was truly high end factory level.

Then you have the Diamond atelier Hyperbike. These guys are famous for their high spec BMW boxer builds, but have recently taken a new direction in building a KTM “Hyperbike”. The word makes a lot of sense when you see the bike up close. Dripping in performance parts and and pushing 215 RWHP the performance alone is something to behold. Then they turn the key and light the bike up! They’ve used some cutting edge luminous paint that is mind blowing. I’ll post a video below to check out, this thing is wild!

This festival ran like a well oiled machine, the RE team had this weekend totally dialled so we could enjoy it for all iots worth and the Goodwood organisers create one of the most amazing motorsport spectacles I’ve ever experienced. If you have the means, don’t ask questions just go there and see for yourself.

Here are my travel tips if you want to head to Goodwood FOS.
1. Definitely do it.
2. Book everything early, tickets for 2027 are already available

3. Stay nearby in an Airbnb as close as you can or camp out on ground.

4. Hire a bike and ride around the area before or after there are some beautiful roads

5. Make dinner bookings, those 300 year old pubs book out and fill up quick.

6. Go shout the Royal Enfield team a beer from me.

After the festival wrapped up we headed for the midlands to pick up my Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 loaner bike so I could get a few days travelling in before I flew home for 28 hours. Spyder motorcycles at Silverstone sorted me out the bike and I was on my way. First stop I headed to Oxford to link up with Dave from Cafe Racers Of Instagram, the Livewire team and Geoff from Co-built a fabricator and moto everywhere man. Dave and I had a killer ride after I stopped at what I was told was a famous café called the Super Sausage. I think its probably the most british place I;ve ever been. go for a ride there for a laugh.

Geoff was kind enough to give us a couch for the night, take us on a ride tour through oxford and just be a general legend. Everyone knows this guy and with good reason. A talented fabricator and really genuine bloke I wish I had more time to hang!

Next day I was making my way to Margate, I split ways with Dave (CROIG) after a short ride in the morning and started heading south, staying off the motorways and hunting for old pubs as I wound my way through farm land heading to the coast. I hit some amazing roads here and soaked it all up my favourite run was between Folkestone and Margat. I stopped for a beer in Folkestone and got recommended some roads from the old blokes at the pub. We had a chat, they called me geezer and I was satisfied enough to go on my way.

My Mate Scotty (Horsey) lives in Margate and runs a mad little shop called Lowlife. That was the reason I went to Margate but the place drew me in. It’s a city that feels like it was forgetten, and recently rediscovered by young people making a run of it. It has a very hipster feel to it which makes for good café’s, record stores vintage clothes and tattoo parlours along with everything else that comes with that. We had a nice arvo beer, watched the sunset and he headed home to tend to his wife and new baby. I found a quiet corner in an old pub and read the new Issue of Dice Mag that he gifted me.

In the Morning I got up, loaded my bag on the bike and met scotty for a ride around town, breakky and a hang at Lowlife before I made my way to London to watch England play Argentina. If I’m back in the UK I’ll for sure be heading to Margate to hang out more the place has a rad vibe about it and I always enjoy hanging out with scotty talking shop.

I took the long way to London up the coast through every small town that had a through road, hiyt a few gravel tracks and tight country lanes that the Guerilla 450 was eating up. Its not my usual bike style of choice but I’m not ashamed to say I had such a killer time riding that thing around for a few days. The bike is well balanced and super nimble.

One more ride before I handed back my Schooner Skipper and headed home. I wound my way out of London on the Guerilla 450 and found some back roads as quickly as I could. Its hard to find an ugly town in England everywhere is just so old and beautiful. I knew it was my last day on this new loaner bike I’d grown to love so I found some twisties and had one last good time on her before riding back and flying out.

I was pleasantly surprised by the guerrilla 450. New bikes often lack a bit of soul for me but this thing was packed with personality and I enjoyed every mile on it. Sometimes the highway was a bit of a chore but that’s to be expected on a 450 single.

England really turned it on for me while I was there, from a massive weekend at Goodwood ticking off some bucket list items to travelling less seen parts of the coutry in search of beers with my mates I couldn’t say a bad word about it.
