Gold Coast Motosocial 2019

Unlike last year’s Motosocial that was almost rained out, this year we had an absolutely perfect day for what’s quickly becoming one of the Gold Coast’s most popular motorcycle events. Over 80 bikes and a tonne of bike enthusiasts shut down the Esplanade in Surfers Paradise for the 2019 edition of the Motosocial Ride + Show.

Motosocial began as a way for local garage builders to get together and show off their skills and test out their builds on the mountain roads. But it’s grown to be an event for bike lovers of all kinds. We were lucky enough to have riders come from all over Australia’s east coast, along with some of the coolest bikes you’ve ever seen – garage builds, modified classics, and bikes that honestly looked like they belonged in a museum!

Supported this year by Eldorado Helmets + Akin Moto, we started the day with throttle happy riders gathering at the Iron and Resin Garage for a morning trek through the picturesque Gold Coast Hinterland. With the sun shining down on a perfect Gold Coast morning, everyone was itching to get on their bikes and show those winding mountain paths what they can do.

The roads we took from Currumbin, through the Mudgeeraba and out to the back of Nerang and then back to Surfers are one of my favourite weekend rides. Not only are there plenty of opportunities to open up the throttle on the back roads, but it has some of the best scenery the Gold Coast has to offer.

Our destination was Sandbar in Surfers Paradise and we packed that place to the rafters. Over 300 bike lovers packed into the iconic beachfront venue for a few Burleigh Brewing Co beers and a line up of all the bikes that came on our morning trek.

We were really lucky to have local businesses get behind this year’s Show n Shine by providing over $2500 worth of cash and prizes. The 3 highest voted bikes taking home shares in the winnings that included a ride day experience with Iron and Resin Garage on the all-new Indian FTR1200, and a brewery tasting and tour for the winner and 10 mates through Burleigh Brewing Co.

Motosocial Gold Coast 2019 Winner was Matt Chapman who travelled from Newcastle with his hand-built 1988 XJ600. The bikes standout feature being the painstakingly fabricated exhaust made up of over 300 pieces and with 100 man hours to create it. Matt was a deserving winner.

Motosocial Gold Coast 2019 was a resounding success. With a great crowd of over 300 riders and enthusiasts through the doors at Sandbar. The Surfers Paradise esplanade buzzing with motorcycles and scooters from the 1940’s all the way to modern classics and customs of every shape and size. Thanks to all our supporters, and to the team behind it all including the short Family + Rich Edmiston.

We’ll see you all next year!
