If you attended the now First Motosocial Gold Coast event you already know what I’m going to say…. IT.WAS.SPECTACULAR!

Over 150 Custom Motorcycles of all shapes, sizes and stages of completion graced the Sandbar in Surfers paradise for a day of Great Bikes, Good people and a little too much Balter beer. Purpose Built Moto teamed up with Sandbar GC to deliver to the motorcycling community of the Gold Coast, and our brothers and sisters from Brisbane an excuse to ride, a place to show off their bike and a social event not soon to be forgotten.

Starting at our Mates place, The Iron and Resin Garage, Stewarts rd Currumbin. The boys were slinging coffee like mad men for the 40+ bikes and riders that joined us for breakfast and the pilgrimage into Surfers Paradise. Taking in some nice windy roads and amazing views that the Gold Coast has on offer. The perfect ride conditions were put on and the crew that joined us was unreal, we had people from as far as Noosa and Coffs Harbour come join us just for the day! Special mention to Chris Woods, Ken Finn and The Litas Brisbane for making the huge effort.

Leading the charge from Brisbane was the local shop Smoked Motorcycles, who were joined by the crew from Brisbane Café Racers to wind their way down to the beach side Paradise at Sandbar for the day.

Once we arrived the crew was bumped in and bikes put on display throughout the venue, Stretching Right from the coffee machine, past the bar and set up right next to the live entertainment for the day. Motosocial Gold Coast bought out some really talented bike builders (and 1 Racer) Including Justin from Pop Bang Classics, Neil Morgan, Geoff Ballard, Ellaspede, Smoked Motorcycles, Ken of SkinnbyFinn, and Chris Woods from Noosa. Most surprising was the undeniable quality of the garage built Café Racers and Customs that dominated the day. All the Bikes that were rolled in received huge attention, and were appreciated not only for their sparkle but the unique quality that something holds when it’s built with a passion, not just the bottom line in mind.

Early afternoon saw the sounds of the James st Preachers start playing through the venue and DJ Bonnas followed up until sunset.

The response received from the community was truly incredible with 60+ bikes registered and put on show inside Sandbar and countless enthusiasts stopping in to check out what was on display and show off their bikes in the public parking on the esplanade. Once settled in we were met by News Crews and photographers who have since helped spread Motosocial’s message of an inclusive and enthusiastic Motorcycle community on the Gold Coast. Thanks to all those who have been posting your pics online It’s been fun to re-visit!

The Professional Photographs supplied in this post and available through the Motosocial GC Community page were done by Kurt Thompson, a local to the Gold Coast who does a lot of my motorcycle photography.
